THE STAGES OF PUPPY GROWTH
THE STAGES OF PUPPY GROWTH
A dog’s growth cycle is unique, although it's applicable to all races. A puppy will go through different phases before reaching adulthood.
Gourmet 4 Pattes accompanies your pet with recipes according to his needs and age.
Stage 1: Neonatal- Age: 0 to 3 weeks
The puppy will naturally suckle its mother and thus benefits from the colostrum.
At first he is quite weak and keeps his eyes closed. Gradually he begins to open his eyes and interact with his mother and brothers.
Stage 2: Socializing- Age 3 to 12 weeks
The puppy learns to behave with dogs and to express himself. Little by little, he gets closer to humans by meeting the dog breeder, the vet, children, etc.
Weaning of the puppy ends between the 5th and the 8th week. He switches to solid food.
Stage 3: Youth of the puppy- Age 8 to 16 weeks
After the socialization period, he begins to gain confidence and test the authority of his master, especially through the bite.
Stage 4: Puppy Puberty- Age 16 to 24 weeks
Puppy puberty is reached between 4 and 6 months. It is during this time that he begins to emit sex hormones. His body is growing and his teeth are growing, which can be a bit painful.
Stage 5: adulthood (according to race) 24 weeks and above
After 6 months the puppy becomes a young adult. During this period it will have reached its peak of growth and for some breeds, reached its final size.
Our breeders strongly recommend our adapted formulas from the 8th week in order to maintain a continuity in the diet but also to help the dog in his growth (musculature, vision, coat, bone development, teething)
